Game Over - Induction Project

September 2017

Our first assignment was a project entitled “Game Over” where we were asked to provide a news and press report about a story set in the future (2037) when all video games have been banned. The idea was to discover our creativity with respect to dystopian future ideology in the arena of artistry, gaming, special effects etc.

Each team consisted of 5 members with different roles – I was assigned news reporter and poster creation in Photoshop in addition to filling in where needed on other tasks. I designed 2 posters in Photoshop depicting a dystopian future, but still giving the information we have now found - that gaming is actually good for the human race promoting greater intelligence, better reactions, developing brains with regards to strategies etc. My Posters were well received by the team and I thought my ideas were good.

Our news report had 3 shots – one of which was done in the studio where due to one teammate illness, I volunteered to help out with sound production, the second shot was done outside in the college grounds and thus we spent time researching a suitable location. The last shot was done on the computer - showing a series of images that we called “the aftermath”.

Overall, I think my team and I did a good job on this project. It was our first time doing something like this. Although we have encountered a few problems with the camera and filming the second shot (which led to having to redo it the next day), we still managed to keep a positive mind and worked hard to get it done in time.

See below for the final composition.
